Murray River Turtle

Emydura macquarii

Hello and Welcome to Enchanted Turtle Retreat! In the late 1950s, when I was 10 years old, we bought two tiny Red-Eared Sliders at the dime store to put in our new pond. It was the beginning of my lifelong love of these endearing creatures. Fast-forward 50 years, and I’m pleased to be raising about 15 different species of turtles and tortoises. Over the years, I’ve successfully bred more than a half-dozen species. There is nothing so exciting as watching a tiny baby turtle emerge from its egg. I’ve truly been enchanted by these guys with the hard shells, beady eyes, sharp mouths, and pink tongues.

The Enchanted Turtle Retreat is a place where turtles and tortoises can live and prosper! Obviously, chelonians (turtles & tortoises) have done some major prospering in their 200 million years on earth. Now, not so much. Most chelonian species around the world are threatened or endangered because of habitat destruction and over-exploitation.

Hello I have two red eared slider turtles and I am looking for a get home for them. Unfortunately I can no longer take care of them since I am in a financial bind. I was wondering if you would point me in the right direction. I live on the eastside of Albuquerque.
    Thanks.
